Looking to make some extra money to supplement your income? Below are eight relatively easy ways to make additional money I use regularly that won’t take you all day!
Poshmark
I’ve been using Poshmark for several years. You can use the app to sell clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Due to high shipping costs for buyers, it’s hard to get people to buy cheaper items such as used shirts. You’ll most likely have more success selling on Poshmark if you’re advertising items that are new, never worn, with the tags still on them. Something great about Poshmark is that they provide you with prepaid USPS shipping labels, and you are also able to use free USPS priority mail shipping slips and boxes. Like most online marketplaces, Poshmark does take a percentage of your sale, but don’t let this dissuade you from making some pocket change by getting rid of things you longer use or need!
Mercari
Mercari is very similar to Poshmark, however, I only use Mercari to sell non-clothing items. Use this app to get rid of decor, clothing, and pretty much anything else. Like Poshmark, you won’t receive 100% of the profit from your sale, but it’s still a good option.
Rakuten
Rakuten, formerly known as Ebates, is a wonderful site that gives you coupons and cashback for online and in-person purchases. They have specials several times a year where a selection of stores will offer cashback percentages of 10% and up! Every couple of months Rakuten will send you your earnings in the mail, through PayPal, or deposit the money directly into your bank account. They also offer an in-browser extension.
RetailMeNot
Similar to Rakuten, RetailMeNot is another website and app that provides you with coupons and cashback. I mostly use this site for their coupons, and I also have it installed as an extension in Chrome for easy access.
Instacart
If you have a car and are comfortable grocery shopping for others, Instacart could be a great option for you. There is an application process, which means that there is a potential that you might be ineligible to work or put on a waitlist, but if you’re lucky enough to be accepted you have the potential to make some decent money. Instacart tends to be more competitive in bigger cities, so if you’re in a city with a population of around 75,000 people or less, you might have better success securing orders as a newbie.
Ibotta
Want to earn money by buying groceries? Ibotta is an app that rewards you for buying specific food and household items and scanning your receipt after you go shopping. Popular stores such as Target, Trader Joe’s, Walmart, and many others are included on Ibotta. After you’ve earned $20, you can withdraw your earnings and have the money deposited into your bank account or PayPal account.
Fetch Rewards
Fetch Rewards rewards you for simply scanning pretty much any receipt (restaurants, grocery stores, the pharmacy) you get from making everyday purchases. You earn 25 points for every receipt you scan and buying specific featured products will earn you more. These points can be redeemed for money and gift cards to a variety of stores. There’s nothing better than free money!
TaskRabbit
Anyone with organizational, cleaning, or handyman skills can earn money by using TaskRabbit. People in your community will pay you to build their Ikea furniture, clean their house, or organize their pantry. Each week you input your availability and then wait for someone to hire you! There is a $25 fee you’ll need to pay before starting to complete tasks, but don’t let this stop you. Currently, TaskRabbit is only available in larger cities, so if you’re lucky enough to live in one of the locations they serve, go ahead and start making yourself some money!
